What are Internships?
An internship is an in-depth, hands-on experience for high school and college students, including graduate level students, with an emphasis on personalized learning. As an intern, you will get the chance to work alongside professionals in the workplace, getting a taste for what it means to work within your field of interest and see what kind of career path you can follow.
What Types of Internships are Available?
The Business Education Compact offers only paid internship experiences.- determined by each business for each internship experience
- dependent on skills and education levels required for the internship
- minimum hourly pay rate is $8.40/hour (Oregon minimum wage)
- college interns are paid a higher wage rate based on increased education
Hourly Wage Rate
- varies according to the business need
- internships may span 3 to 18 months
Length of Internships
- dependent on business need and student school schedule
- summer internships are typically full-time - 40 hours per week
- school year internships are part-time - between 10 and 30 hours per week
